one year ago...

i've just been inspired by a PT thread.
it asks us to post pictures of us now and a year ago to see how we've changed.

today is officially monday, may thirtieth, two thousand and eleven.

this time last year,
-i was healthy (with respect to eating habits)
-i had quit smoking (except when drunk)
-i had stopped cutting (resumed briefly in june, though)
-i had just celebrated my two month-iversary with HF, who by now knew for about a month and a half that i had cheated on him with KW almost two months ago
-KW was a month and a half into rehab
-i was not doing any of my schoolwork
-i was deferring enrollment to my college for a year
-i was refusing to take my anti-depressants because they did fuckall
-i had survived my reckless quest of self-destruction

that's all i can think of...
the differences between 2009 and 2010 were more remarkable... then again 2009 was a hell of a year. but that was a lifetime ago, now.

but none of the changes in the past year would stand out in a photograph.
my hair's about the same length. i got it cut in june before prom but it's grown. i haven't dyed it.
i'm only about seven or so pounds lighter. not enough to really show.

this is a photo from prom on june 19th, 2010. HF and i were pretty happy. we look it, too. i love this photograph. i can feel the energy bursting from my chest. my singular dimple is on display. my favorite detail (aside from the guy in back i'm actually friends with again) - the key around my neck is a silver tiffany necklace, a birthday present from HF. (i'm known for wearing an antique key i bought in stratford-upon-avon summer 2009 - that necklace promptly got reinstated once HF and i broke up.)

the thing about being behind the camera is that there aren't many photographs of me these days.
this is from early march, 2011:

if you could see my left forearm in these photographs, you'd see mostly healed, barely-there etches of scars in the recent one. in june they were worse. they're about the only thing that was worse then.

i fucking hate my smile now.

  1. You beam with happiness in the first picture! I like it, but I also really like the current one of you. You're an attractive lady. :)

I like your necklace. I also wear a key on a chain sometimes, but it's nothing special. Just and old skeleton key but it's me. :)

I would add photos of myself here but I don't know how or if you can do that in comments here? Hmmm.
